Niederwald Man, Car Accident on North Street in San Marcos, TX

Right now, details are limited. Authorities say that three people were in a Nissan going eastbound along North Street. For reasons unclear, the vehicle lost control and ran off-road where it crashed into a tree.

Due to the collision, all three occupants in the Nissan had serious injuries. There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the accident. Authorities said alcohol was a possible factor in the accident, but details can’t be confirmed right now.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

It’s obviously important to consider any possibility of alcohol after a serious accident. But that goes beyond the crash scene itself. There is often a complicit negligent alcohol provider involved, as well. If investigations show someone was unlawfully over-served by an alcohol provider, they can be held accountable if that person gets themselves or someone else hurt.

That said, there are countless other possible factors investigations need to look into. I get calls from people often who feel authorities were more concerned with looking for blame than actually trying to get clear answers. That’s when there may need to be a second set of eyes looking things over so nothing important slips through the cracks.
