Blandford, MA — August 16, 2024, Nicholas Charles was killed following a pedestrian versus truck accident at around 9:45 a.m. along Interstate Highway 90.
According to authorities, Nicholas Charles was traveling in an 18-wheeler in the eastbound lanes of I.H. 90 when the accident took place.
Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the 18-wheeler failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly struck a guardrail before coming to a stop. Reports state that, apparently in an attempt to collect something that had been knocked off of the truck, Charles exited the stopped 18-wheeler and entered the westbound lanes on foot. There, however, reports state that he was struck by a second 18-wheeler. Charles suffered fatal injuries as a result of that collision and was declared deceased at the scene. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
