UPDATE (June 19, 2023): According to recent public information, the six-week-old child involved in the accident has succumbed to her injuries. That child was in a vehicle which police say was hit by an allegedly intoxicated driver. Reports now say that driver will face charges for Intoxication Manslaughter as well as Leaving the Scene of an Accident Involving Death. Investigations continue at this time.
Odessa, TX — June 12, 2023, Nallely Mendoza and two children were injured after an alleged hit-and-run accident at 11:17 p.m. along Grandview Avenue.
According to initial statements from city and Odessa Police officials, the incident took place at the intersection of Grandview Avenue and Maple Avenue.

Statements at this time indicate that 19-year-old Nallely Mendoza and two children were in a Chevy Cruze that was reportedly stopped at the intersection for a red light. While waiting, details allege that a Lexus going northbound slammed into the back of Mendoza’s Chevy. That driver then allegedly attempted to flee the scene on foot, but authorities reportedly arrested that driver.
Due to the collision, Mendoza and the two children were injured. One of those children reportedly sustained potentially life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries confirmed.
Currently, authorities report that the suspected driver of the Lexus faces multiple charges, including Intoxication Assault causing serious bodily injuries, Unlawful Carrying of Weapon, Accident involving serious bodily injuries, and bribery. These allegations and other details in current reports remain unconfirmed pending further investigations.
