How Did This Accident Occur?
When vehicles are going the same direction and collide, it usually means someone was distracted, going too fast, or following too closely. Perhaps there were less common factors involved here, like mechanical issues or road design issues. That’s all up to the evidence to say. My concern, though, is people may be too quick to assume the motorcyclist did something wrong.
A lot of people assume all riders are reckless drivers, so they jump to conclusions about a crash even when there are no clear answers. I’ve even seen examples first-hand where authorities made mistakes due to their bias, and independent investigations had to set the record straight. Maybe they haven’t been so flippant here, but it’s important for the victim’s loved ones to know investigators are leaving their bias at the door and getting the full story.
