Accident Report

May 10, 2026, a man was injured due to a motorcycle accident just after 1:30 in the morning along U.S. Highway 60.

According to authorities, a 33-year-old man was traveling on a southbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle on U.S. Highway 60 at State Loop 395 when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the motorcycle was involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a traffic attenuation device.

The man reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Most people, when they hear about single-vehicle motorcycle accidents, are quick to cast blame on the rider and just move on. I’m not about to jump to conclusions like that, though. Why? Because, over the three decades in which I have been in this line of business, I have seen plenty of similar cases in which evidence that went against the grain of stereotype ended up being unearthed by the investigation.

To be clear, I’m not insinuating that I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation does. I just want to point out that, hypothetically, the accident could have been caused by something gone wrong with the motorcycle itself. Motorcycles, while smaller than passenger vehicles, are still complex machines. What if, for example, it was dealing with brake failure? Or maybe it had a tire blowout? Have throttle issues or steering mechanism problems been considered? Honestly, the list of possible issues goes on and on.

I’m aware that these things are not very likely, but neither are they outside of the realm of possibilities. An in-depth vehicle inspection would be able to bring to light any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role in the wreck. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get one done. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve a clear and detailed understanding as to not only how it happened, but why. That kind of clarity—real answers backed by solid evidence—just can’t be provided by surface-level investigation.
