Accident Report

April 6, 2026, two people were injured due to a motorcycle accident at approximately 9:45 p.m. along State Highway 114.

According to authorities, two people—a 27-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman—were traveling on a southeast bound Kawasaki motorcycle just past Kirkwood Boulevard/Solana Boulevard when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Kawasaki apparently failed to appropriately control its speed. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently overturned.

Both the man and the woman reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of the victims—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of motorcycle accidents, and I’ve come to think that motorcyclists get a bad rap. Most people are quick to blame motorcyclists for any accident they happen to be involved in. However, I’ve seen plenty of cases where the investigation turned up evidence that went against the grain of the stereotype. That is why I don’t jump to conclusions.

To be clear, I’m not saying I know more about this specific accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. I’m just pointing out that, hypothetically, something could have gone wrong with the motorcycle to cause the wreck rather than driver error. For example, what if the Kawasaki failed to control its speed because it was experiencing brake failure? Or maybe there was an issue with the throttle? Motorcycles, while smaller than passenger vehicles, are still complex machines.

Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get an in-depth vehicle inspection done on the motorcycle. That way any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that played a role won’t be allowed to fly under the radar. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve real answers backed by solid evidence. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
