How Did This Accident Occur?
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: there is no such thing as a simple motor vehicle accident. Motorcycles are complex machines. Several systems have to work as designed and in tandem in order to them to remain safe on our roadways. If something goes wrong with one or more of those systems, then there can be consequences.
To be clear, I don’t know more about this specific motorcycle accident than anyone else outside of the investigation. However, I have had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of motorcycle accidents over the last three decades. As such, I have cultivated a unique perspective. I know that vehicle inspections are not done routinely in most accident investigations, but perhaps a request should be made for one in this case. That way, any underlying mechanical malfunctions—like a throttle or brake issue, for example—can either be ruled out or brought to light.
Feel free to leave a comment letting me know whether or not you think I’m way off base with this. I, however, don’t think it would be a waste of time or resources. After all, the victim of this wreck deserves complete answers backed by solid evidence, not ambiguous excuses and unmerited blame.
