Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
One of my concerns following any motorcycle accident is if authorities treated the victim fairly. The unfortunately reality is a lot of people are biased against motorcyclists, and this can make some investigators jump to conclusions without actually considering the evidence.
Crashes like this can happen for a number of reasons, including things drivers aren’t always able to avoid. Tire blowouts, road hazards, hit-and-runs, vehicle defects, etc. If authorities can provider clear answers and show that they’ve looked into those things, then that can help reassure people that investigations were done properly. Otherwise, if they move on too quickly or leave gaps in the story, it can be a sign that the crash needs another look from more thorough, less biased independent investigators.
