How Did This Accident Occur?

On the surface, this looks like a simple case of driver error. However, I’ve learned over the years not to jump to conclusions. There are any number of things that could have played a role in the wreck that might have quietly flown under the radar. For example, how was the truck behaving? Was it following traffic too closely causing it to brake suddenly or unexpectedly? Were the brake lights working properly? Just because it was the passenger vehicle that struck the truck does not mean that the truck was not at least partially at fault. What about the Acadia? Were the brakes functioning properly? Even a partial brake failure can make it difficult to stop at a critical moment.

Hopefully the authorities who are in charge of investigating this accident are thorough and open-minded. If they get a vehicle inspection done on the truck and the GMC, then any underlying mechanical malfunctions or product defects that had a hand in the wreck can be brought to light. If, for some reason, the authorities fail to take that step, then a third party investigation can certainly step in. After all, the victims deserve to have evidence based facts that detail the whole picture. They don’t need excuses that heap unmerited blame at their feet as they are trying to heal.
