Dallas, TX — November 2, 2024, Mitra Rai and Dimple Rai were injured following a car accident at around 1:00 a.m. along Loop 635.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened along the LBJ Freeway near Preston road.
Investigators said that 41-year-old Mitra Rai and 38-year-old Dimple Rai were in a Toyota Rav4 on eastbound lanes of the freeway. The vehicle was reportedly stationary at the time when an approaching Ford F-150 crashed into it.
Due to the collision, Mitra Rai had serious injuries. Dimple Rai reportedly had non-serious injuries. Right now, exact factors leading up to the collision are unconfirmed.

One of the bigger challenges with serious car accidents is people think authorities conduct exhaustive investigations, give victims and families all the answers they need, and victims and families use that to get a fair resolution. A lot of the time, though, authorities don’t prioritize the needs of victims and families. They’re just looking for charges to file. It can be important, then, to follow up with authorities and find out what efforts they’ve made on their own.
Did investigators have the time and resources to properly analyze the crash? Law enforcement agencies are often stretched thin, and accident investigations can take a backseat to other responsibilities. If officers didn’t have the tools or training needed for a thorough reconstruction, crucial evidence could have been overlooked.
Did authorities consider whether a vehicle defect played a role? A mechanical failure, such as brake or steering issues, could have contributed to the crash. Additionally, defects in safety systems—like malfunctioning seatbelts or airbags—can turn survivable crashes into fatal ones. These factors often require specialized analysis beyond what standard accident reports include.
