Frisco, TX — March 15, 2024, Miryam Rumbaut was injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at around 6:30 p.m. along Anthem Drive.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the crash happened in the parking lot of a golf club at the intersection of Anthem Drive and Crown Park Lane.

According to officials, 70-year-old Miryam Rumbaut was driving a Toyota Prius and coming out of a parking spot in the lot. While exiting the parking spot, it appears a Kia Sorento lost control, hopped a curb, and crashed into Rumbaut’s Prius. As a result, Rumbaut sustained reportedly serious injuries.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
The driver of the Kia was allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. If investigators find that to be true and are handling things properly, they’ll also ask the same question that came to my mind: Where did the alleged drunk driver get their alcohol from?
Put simply, if an alcohol provider such as a bar or restaurant serves someone who’s obviously intoxicated, and it contributes to an accident, the alcohol provider opens itself to consequences, such as criminal charges, liability for the resulting injuries, fines, and even revoking of their liquor license. These areas of the law may not get much attention, but they apply to a significant portion of alcohol-related accidents.
Maybe that isn’t something that happened here, but it would be outright irresponsible if investigators didn’t confirm or otherwise rule out this possibility. Not only would that be potentially letting someone off the hook for breaking the law, it could allow that wrongdoer to continue putting lives at risk until more people get hurt.
