Houston, TX — December 17, 2022, Mirta James and Jacinto Urapo Jr. were injured following an alleged hit-and-run accident after midnight on Gessner Drive.
Investigators with Harris County indicate there are charges pending in connection with the accident. Statements say the crash occurred in the area of the Gessner Drive and Katy Freeway service road intersection at approximately 12:17 a.m.
According to officials, 29-year-old Mirta James and 29-year-old Jacinto Urapo Jr. were said to be in a Lexus that was going southbound along Gessner. At the service road intersection, they were stationary when it appears a southbound Honda Civic crashed into their vehicle. Police officials allege that the Honda driver then fled the scene on foot.
The nature of the injuries James and Urapo reportedly sustained was not specified by authorities. Details suggest that authorities identified the Honda driver, and there have been charges filed for alleged failure to stop and render aid.
