UPDATE (May 20, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify some of the details of what happened leading up to and during this accident. Officials indicate that the motorcycle may have been traveling at high speeds previous to the accident. Also, contradictory to previous reports, the GMC was turning left into the alley south of Bent Tree Drive, not onto Bent Tree Drive, itself. The investigation is still ongoing.
Amarillo, TX — May 2, 2024, Mikeal Donovan Fierro was killed following a motorcycle versus car accident just before 9:30 p.m. along Soncy Road.
According to authorities, 19-year-old Mikeal Fierro was traveling on a northbound Kawasaki motorcycle on Soncy Road in the vicinity of the Bent Tree Drive intersection when the accident took place.
A GMC SUV was attempting a left turn from southbound Soncy Road onto eastbound Bent Tree Drive. Officials indicate that, for as yet unconfirmed reasons, the two vehicles collided in the intersection. Fierro incurred fatal injuries as a result of the wreck; he was declared deceased at the scene. No other injuries have been reported.
