Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
A lot of people will see a rear-end collision and immediately write it off as the rear driver doing something wrong. However, there is no automatic process for assigning blame. The full context matters, and it’s important investigators consider all possibilities. Unfortunately, even authorities can sometimes jump to conclusions without looking at all the facts. That’s especially true with younger drivers.
That’s why it can sometimes be helpful for families to consider how satisfied they are with the answers they got from the authorities. Do they feel all of their concerns were addressed, or do they feel they may be missing a piece of the puzzle? The answer could help them decide if they want a second set of eyes to look things over.
