Laurens County, SC — June 10, 2023, Michael McKinney Jr. was fatally injured due to a truck versus motorcycle accident at 4:00 p.m. along South Frontage Road.
According to initial statements from the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened along the I-385 service road just off Main Street near Gnatt Trail in the Fountain Inn area.
Preliminary information suggests that the collision occurred as 62-year-old Michael McKinney Jr. was on a Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling along the frontage road. It appears that a Freightliner on the same road was attempting to turn into a private driver at the time, resulting in a collision with McKinney’s motorcycle.
Due to the collision, McKinney sustained injuries that proved to be fatal. There were no other injuries reported. At this time, authorities have yet to released additional details about the fatal wreck, including whether or not there are any pending charges or citations.
