My concern in crashes like this is always whether or not authorities got the victim’s side of the story. When someone is seriously hurt in a single-vehicle wreck, they may not be in a position to speak to officers before they’re taken to a hospital. And if there’s no one else involved in the crash, authorities might simply jump to conclusions rather than conduct a thorough accident reconstruction.
That’s why I’ve had so many cases involving drivers who were victims of extenuating circumstances authorities overlooked. Mechanical issues, road hazards, being illegally over-served by a bar or similar establishment, tire blowouts, medical emergencies, etc. If authorities here were able to follow up with the victim and verify the evidence surrounding the crash, that would be good to hear. I’ve learned throughout my career, though, that it’s best not to take that kind of prudence for granted.
