Lubbock, TX — May 8, 2023, Melodi Boivin, Xavier Cabellero, George Wallace, and children were killed in a car accident at 1:30 a.m. along Marsha Sharp.
Preliminary details surrounding the crash were provided by Lubbock Police Department officials. Their statements say the collision happened along the eastbound lanes of the Marsha Sharp Freeway near Upland Avenue.
According to initial statements from authorities, 23-year-old Xavier Cabellero, 21-year-old Melodi Boivin, and two children were in a minivan traveling eastbound along the freeway. It appears that an SUV driving against traffic crossed paths with the minivan, and the vehicles collided head-on.
Cabellero, Boivin, and the two children in their vehicle succumbed to fatal injuries. Details say Boivin was pregnant at the time, and the unborn child was also killed. Authorities identified the SUV driver as 46-year-old George Wallace. Wallace also succumbed to fatal injuries.
Right now, the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation.
