Harris County, TX — August 19, 2023, Maya Francois was killed as the result of a hit-and-run accident at around 8:27 p.m. along the North Freeway.
Harris County officials released information about the accident which they indicate happened on the southbound I-45 service road near the intersection of West Richey Road.
According to investigators, 24-year-old Maya Francois was on foot at the time and reportedly attempting to walk across the service road. While doing so, details say that a silver SUV struck Francois, then continued driving and left the scene. Following this, a Nissan Versa also hit Francois. Information suggests that driver is known to authorities.
Due to the collision, Francois succumbed to her injuries.

It is unclear if authorities ever located the runaway driver, and no charges have been reported. But even this long after the accident, putting these details in the public eye can help lead to a breakthrough. I’ve seen situations go for several months and even over a year before someone can finally connect the dots. I just hope authorities are still working diligently to help get answers for this victim’s loved ones and to see a runaway driver faces consequences.
