Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

When people hear about crashes like this one, it’s easy for them to assume they are a result of simple driver error. However, in my experience, accidents involving large trucks often require thorough investigations to understand all contributing factors.

In this incident, the circumstances leading to the crash are still under investigation. It is crucial to determine why the 18-wheeler failed to yield the right of way at the stop sign. Factors such as driver distraction, fatigue, or even mechanical failure should be considered. Each of these elements can play a significant role in accidents involving large trucks.

The investigation should also focus on the condition and maintenance of the 18-wheeler. Regular inspections and proper upkeep are vital for ensuring that commercial trucks operate safely on the road. Any lapses in this area could indicate negligence on the part of the trucking company or the driver. It’s crucial to check if the vehicle had any prior issues that might have contributed to the crash.

Additionally, the trucking company responsible for the 18-wheeler may share in the responsibility for the accident. If the company failed to enforce safety protocols, properly train their drivers, or ensure that their vehicles were in good working order, they could be held accountable for their role in the crash. Examining whether all safety measures were followed by the company and the driver is essential.

Ultimately, the goal is to uncover the truth and provide answers to those affected by the crash. Even if it requires conducting an independent investigation to obtain vital evidence, it is crucial to consider every factor to ensure that those impacted by the crash receive the clarity and closure they deserve.
