Something I talk about a lot on this blog is how car accident investigations are often more complex than folks realize. It’s not always as simple as looking for cell phone usage or speeding. The more chaotic the scene, the more people and vehicles investigators have to consider in their investigations. Frankly, authorities aren’t consistent in how thorough their reconstructions are. That’s why I get calls all the time from people who feel they were left in the dark during a time when they most needed peace of mind.

That’s why I generally tell people that it’s important to consider whether or not they feel their situation is getting the attention it deserves. To put it simply, if authorities conduct good investigations, victims and families will tend to feel like they have no more questions or doubts, and they feel they’re getting the whole story. But if they feel like they’re still searching for answers or still wondering about details police never mentioned, then authorities likely didn’t do a very good investigation.

Considering the fact multiple vehicles were involved here, one person lost their life, and another person apparently left the scene, I’d say this situation needs extreme care and a lot of experience and time to properly investigate. Are those steps being taken?
