Montmorency Township, IL — April 3, 2024, Matthew Miller was killed following a tractor versus truck accident at approximately 9:20 a.m. along State Route 40.
According to authorities, 41-year-old Matthew Miller was traveling in a northbound tractor towing a grain cart along S.R. 40 approaching the S.R. 172, Star Road, intersection when the accident occurred.
The tractor was reportedly slowing in preparation of making a left-hand turn onto Star Road. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an 18-wheeler, which had been following behind the tractor, made a lane change and attempted to pass the tractor on the left. As a result, the tractor and the 18-wheeler collided as the tractor initiated its left turn. Miller incurred fatal injuries as a result of the wreck. The occupant of the 18-wheeler apparently suffered injuries as well. He was taken to a local medical facility where he was treated before being released.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
