UPDATE (January 11, 2024): The identity of the man who lost his life as a result of this accident has been confirmed as 37-year-old Matthew McVay.

Arlington, TX — December 31, 2023, one person was killed in a single-car accident at approximately 2:00 in the morning along Sublett Road.

According to authorities, a 37-year-old man was traveling in a westbound Kia Stinger on Sublett Road in the vicinity of the Fox Hunt Drive intersection when the accident took place.

Officials state that investigators believe the Stinger to have been traveling at high rates of speed leading up to the accident. For as yet unconfirmed reasons, the Stinger failed to safely maintain its lane of travel, veering off of the roadway and striking a tree, several fences, and a utility pole. The vehicle finally came to a stop after colliding with a concrete pillar.

The 37-year-old—the sole occupant of the Kia—was reportedly declared deceased at the scene due to injuries incurred during the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by local authorities. The weather and road conditions in the area at the time have not been reported on. Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time.
