Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

One thing to keep in mind with serious commercial truck wrecks is they can be incredibly challenging for investigators without the right experience or equipment. There are all kinds of factors to consider, some of which drivers don’t always have control over.

Were there mechanical issues? Was there missing signage? Did someone experience a medical emergency? Did this happen due to a driver on the job forced to work unreasonable hours? Is this intersection notorious for accidents due to poor design or maintenance? Likely or not, these things happen. If authorities aren’t able to rule them out, then it’s likely independent investigations will have to pick up the slack for the victims and families involved to get the answers they deserve.
