Regardless of what caused this crash, I have to wonder if authorities looked into what caused the injuries. Based on the directions these vehicles were going, one would expect the driver of the Chevy to face the most severe injuries, considering it’s their side that was likely hit. Either these events played out in an unusual way, or there were other factors that led to the passenger on the far side of the impact being killed while the drivers both were reportedly okay.

This is why inspections of the vehicles involved in a crash are so crucial. There could be defects with airbags, seatbelts, seat assemblies, or even the structure of the vehicle itself that cause survivable crashes to become fatal. When that happens, the victims’ loved ones deserve to know, but so does the public. After all, if something in the victim’s vehicle failed to prevent fatal injuries, others could be at risk.

Likely or not, this is a possibility that’s important to explore anytime red flags like this appear. It’s possible further investigations rule out any kind of defect, but that alone can be a world of weight off the shoulders of the victim’s loved ones.
