Accident Report

May 2, 2026, Martha Miranda was killed and Victor Sepulveda and three children were hurt in an alleged drunk driver accident on West Monte Cristo Road.

According to authorities five people—39-year-old Martha Luna Miranda, 41-year-old Victor Sepulveda, a four-year-old girl, and two boys ages nine and five—were traveling in a vehicle at the West Monte Cristo Road and Salinas Street intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that a westbound vehicle occupied by a 31-year-old man who was allegedly intoxicated at the time entered the intersection against the red light. A collision consequently occurred between the two vehicles.

Miranda—who had reportedly suffered fatal injuries in the wreck—was declared deceased at the scene. The two boys suffered serious injuries, as well. Sepulveda and the little girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries, too, according to reports. All four injured victims were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.

Authorities have apparently recommended one charge of Intoxication Manslaughter and four charges of Intoxication Assault against the 31-year-old man. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I’ve been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve had the opportunity to analyze hundreds of alcohol-related car accidents. Many people will end up with tunnel vision, hyper focusing on the accident scene. What I really want to know, though, is where the man had been drinking before the accident.

You might be wondering why the heck that even matters? Allow me to explain. If he had been drinking at a private residence, then that is one thing. However, if he had been drinking at an establishment that sells alcohol—like a restaurant or a bar—then there is the possibility that he was overserved. If that is true, then the person(s) who made the decision to continue serving him even after he was obviously intoxicated hold(s) a portion or the responsibility for the wreck that he ended up causing. Luckily, Texas has a tool called Dram Shop Law; It allows for establishments to be held accountable for their role in accidents where someone is hurt that were caused by customers they overserved.

To be clear, I’m not trying to mitigate the weight of the decision that the driver made to get behind the wheel when he clearly shouldn’t have. It’s just that there could very well be other people whose decisions played a major part in this wreck. I truly hope that investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—are thorough and openminded enough to pull back the layers of this accident and identify every person who had a hand in its outcome.
