UPDATE (June 24, 2024): The pedestrian who lost her life as a result of this hit-and-run accident has been identified as 38-year-old Marling Ballestero. The investigation is still ongoing.
Houston, TX — May 26, 2024, a woman was killed following a pedestrian versus hit-and-run car accident at around 4:00 p.m. along Renwick Drive.
According to authorities, a woman was on foot walking along a sidewalk on Renwick Drive in the vicinity north of Pine Street when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Jeep Liberty failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly hit the curb before crashing into the woman. The person who had been behind the wheel of the Jeep allegedly fled the scene, failing to render aid of any sort to the victim.
The woman suffered critical injuries as a result of the accident. She was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive immediate treatment. However, she was ultimately unable to overcome the extent of her injuries, having been declared deceased on May 29, 2024.
