Upshur County, TX — September 16, 2024, Mark Tietz was killed following a car accident that occurred at around 9:00 P.M. on US-271.
An investigation is underway into a car accident that left one person dead during the evening hours of September 16th. According to official reports, Tietz was in the northbound lanes of US-271 in a Toyota Highlander just south of Bettie, TX when for unknown reasons, reportedly attempted a U-Turn in front of another vehicle.
This resulted in the second vehicle striking the Highlander on the driver side, and as a result of the impact, both vehicles sustained significant damage. When first responders arrived on the scene, they found that Tietz had sustained serious injuries and transported him to the hospital. Tietz ultimately succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased At this time there has been no further information released from the accident, and whether any charges or citations will be filed.
