Sunnyvale, TX — June 4, 2023, Mario Avila and Joshua Hicks were injured as the result of a car accident at 2:24 a.m. along U.S. Highway 80.
Preliminary details about the crash were released by authorities who say the crash happened along eastbound lanes of the highway off of Collins Road.
According to officials, 26-year-old Joshua Hicks was in a Nissan Sentra that was going eastbound along the highway. 26-year-old Mario Tomas Avila was in a Kia Rio also on eastbound lanes. However, authorities claim that the Kia was going westbound on eastbound lanes, pulled to the south side of the road, then turned across the lanes going northbound. While doing this, the Nissan crashed into the Kia.
Due to the collision, both Hicks and Avila had injuries which were described as incapacitating. No others were said to have been injured. Right now, the factors leading up to the crash have not been officially confirmed. It’s unclear if charges or citations are being considered.
