San Benito, TX — March 5, 2023, Maria Soria was possibly injured as the result of a car accident involving an allegedly drunk driver.
Preliminary details from authorities said that the crash happened just after 11:30 a.m. along FM 732 at Business 77. Authorities say that 43-year-old Maria Soria was in a Chevy Tahoe traveling northbound on FM 732. A Ford Focus apparently fleeing from police turned into the path of Soria and hit Soria’s car head-on.
Right now, Maria Soria and others involved were labeled as having “possible” injuries. Police say they believe that the Ford driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time, and criminal charges could be pending.

Generally speaking, it’s not often a drunk driving wreck happens at this time of day. If that is actually when this happened, it could be that someone was out drinking on their own leading up to the crash. But it would surprise folks to see how often businesses like brunch spots get in trouble for over-serving people even as early as 11:00 a.m. I’m not saying that happened here, of course, but there could still be important details not yet public here.
