Hockley County, TX — April 29, 2023, Maria Saucedo Ballesteros and David Enriquez were killed following a semi-truck accident at around 2:00 a.m. on U.S. 84.
Investigators said that the fatal truck accident happened outside of Anton near the intersection of F.M. 168.
Statements from Texas Department of Public Safety officials say that 23-year-old Maria Saucedo Ballesteros and 26-year-old David Enriquez were in a Ford F-150 that had been traveling along the highway. Somehow, an initial crash happened which left the pickup disabled in a lane of travel along U.S. 84. Some time later, as the pickup sat on the highway, a semi-truck did not avoid the Ford in time and crashed into it.
As a result of the collision, Saucedo Ballesteros and Enriquez both succumbed to fatal injuries. The truck driver was said to have injuries not considered life-threatening. Currently, exact factors surrounding the two collisions are still under investigation.
