Brazoria County, TX — April 26, 2024, Maria Roman was killed and one other person was injured in a car accident shortly before 4:45 p.m. along F.M. 2403.

According to authorities, 74-year-old Maria Roman and a 73-year-old man were traveling in a northbound Toyota Corolla along F.M. 2403 in the vicinity south of S.H. 35 when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Chevy Tahoe attempted to exit a private drive by making a left turn onto northbound F.M. 2403 at an apparently unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to roadway traffic. This resulted in a collision between the front-right side of the Tahoe and the front-end of the Corolla.

Both Roman and the man who had also been in the Corolla suffered injuries as a result of the collision. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. However, Roman was ultimately unable to overcome the severity of her injuries, having been declared deceased the day following the accident. No other injuries have been reported.
