Houston, TX — November 28, 2022, Maria Chavira Cruz was fatally injured following a work accident at around 2:16 p.m. along Navigation Boulevard.
Preliminary details in the Occupational Safety and Health Administration investigation summary about the accident said that it happened at 3407 Navigation Boulevard. This appears to be the address for Goodwish Industries, LLC., which is the company listed as the subject of the OSHA investigation.
Authorities said that 54-year-old Maria Chavira Cruz was in a warehouse are at the time. It appears that a co-worker was operating a forklift when the vehicle struck a stack of “bundles of clothing.” This caused a chain reaction of bundles falling, and this led to Cruz being struck by the falling bundles.
As a result of the incident, Cruz sustained fatal injuries. It’s unclear if anyone else was hurt in the accident. OSHA reports list at least six alleged violations, five of which are labeled as “serious.” The current recommended penalty listed on the OSHA report is $45,314.
