Dallas, TX — May 3, 2024, Marchell Cox was killed as the result of a pedestrian accident just before midnight on Great Trinity Forest Way.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened at the intersection of Great Trinity Forest Way and Bonnie View Road.
It appears that the incident happened as a pedestrian, identified by county officials as Marchell Cox, was walking across the roadway. While doing so, a westbound vehicle struck Cox, resulting in fatal injuries. Authorities say the driver remained at the scene. Right now, no additional details can be confirmed.

Believe it or not, pedestrian accidents can be rather challenging to investigate. People tend to think it all comes down to right-of-way. That’s important, of course, but it’s just one factor.
Another important factor is if the accident was reasonably avoidable. For example, if someone is clearly visible and far away enough to avoid, drivers have a responsibility to avoid them. Even if someone isn’t in a crosswalk, that’s not a free pass to run them over.
Whether or not anything like that happened here is going to depend on what further evidence comes to light. Hopefully authorities are taking this situation seriously and not sweeping it aside as something low on their list of priorities.
