Star Mill, IN — June 21, 2023, Luka Cuk was killed and Jawad Ahmed was injured following a semi-truck accident at 7:00 a.m. on the Indiana Toll Road.
Authorities with the Indiana State Police said that the crash happened near mile marker 120.5, west of Elkhart.
It appears that 29-year-old Luka Cuk was in a Freightliner semi-truck that was going westbound along the toll road. 51-year-old Jawad Ahmed was in a Kenworth truck also going westbound. Details from authorities say that the Kenworth was “driving well below the minimum speed limit.” The Freightliner did not avoid the Kenworth in time, crashing into it from behind.
Due to the collision, Cuk sustained fatal injuries. Ahmed was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Right now, authorities have not given a reason for the Kenworth’s low speed, and they have not confirmed a cause for the crash. Investigations are ongoing.
