Caldwell County, TX — April 2, 2024, Lucerita Sierra-Lopez and two minors were injured in a car accident at approximately 12:30 p.m. along Walnut Avenue.

According to authorities, 36-year-old Lucerita Sierra-Lopez, a 15-year-old girl, and a 5-year-old boy were traveling in a northbound Chevy Spark on Walnut Avenue at the Crockett Street intersection when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, an eastbound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on Crockett Street failed to yield the right of way to Walnut Avenue traffic at a stop sign, entering the intersection at an apparently unsafe time. This resulted in a T-bone collision between the front-end of the pickup truck and the left side of the Spark.

Sierra-Lopez incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. The two minors who were with her in the Spark sustained reportedly moderate injuries, as well. All three of them were transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
