Nolan County, TX — February 21, 2025, Louis Armstrong Jr. was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 11:55 p.m. on County Road 131 east of Sweetwater.
A preliminary accident report indicates a 2011 Jeep Wrangler strayed from its lane and crashed head-on with a 2013 Ford F-150.
Ford driver Louis Lynn Armstrong Jr., 43, suffered suspected serious injuries in the crash, according to authorities.
The Jeep driver, who was not injured, was charged with intoxication assault.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Nolan County crash.

When a driver drifts out of their lane and causes a head-on crash, and authorities later determine they were intoxicated, it raises an important question: Where did they get their alcohol?
Too often, investigations into drunk driving crashes stop at confirming the driver’s impairment. But under Texas law, alcohol providers have a responsibility not to serve someone who is already obviously intoxicated. If a bar or restaurant continued serving this driver past that point, they may have played a role in this crash.
Dram shop laws exist to hold negligent alcohol providers accountable and to discourage unsafe alcohol service. A thorough investigation should determine where this driver had been drinking and whether an establishment contributed to the events leading up to the crash. That’s not just about accountability—it’s about preventing future crashes caused by unlawful alcohol service.
