Hays County, TX — March 23, 2024, Litzy Sherlyn Joyas Altamirano was injured following a hit-and-run car accident at approximately 3:30 a.m. along I.H. 35.
According to authorities, 40-year-old Lytzy Sherlyn Joyas Altamirano was traveling in a Toyota Rav4 in the right-most of three southbound lanes on Interstate Highway 35 in the vicinity northwest of Miller Trace when the accident occurred.

Reports state that a southbound vehicle of unknown make and model was traveling slightly ahead of the Toyota in the center lane. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the unknown vehicle made a lane change to the right-most lane at an apparently unsafe time. This caused the Toyota to veer to the right and onto the shoulder in an attempt to avoid a collision. However, the Toyota was reportedly unable to keep from crashing into the end of a guardrail.
The unknown vehicle allegedly left the scene, the person(s) inside failing to stop and render aid of any sort to the victim. Altamirano suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck. She was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
