Fort Bend County, TX — January 28, 2025, Linda Nguyen and three others were injured in a possible drunk driver accident at about 3:30 p.m. on Interstate Highway 69.
According to authorities, 32-year-old Linda Nguyen and two children ages four and one were traveling in a southwest bound Lexus on I.H. 69 in the vicinity of Patton Road when the accident took place.

Traffic in the area was reportedly slowing. Officials indicate that a southwest bound Chevrolet Impala occupied by a 25-year-old man who was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and drugs failed to appropriately control its speed. It subsequently collided with the rear-end of the Lexus, pushing the Lexus forward into the back of a Ford F-150.
Nguyen and the man who had been behind the wheel of the Impala both suffered serious injuries over the course of the accident according to reports. The two children from the Impala sustained apparently minor injuries, as well. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
When authorities suspect a driver was under the influence of alcohol and drugs in a crash, it’s important to examine not just what happened but why. In this case, officials say the driver of the Chevrolet Impala was impaired when he failed to slow for traffic, causing a multi-vehicle collision that seriously injured Linda Nguyen and himself, along with two young children. If intoxication played a role, the next question should be: Where did he obtain alcohol before the crash?
Texas law prohibits bars, restaurants, and other alcohol providers from serving alcohol to someone who is obviously intoxicated. If the driver had been drinking at an establishment that ignored clear signs of impairment and continued serving him, that business could share responsibility for the crash under Texas dram shop law. These laws exist to hold alcohol providers accountable for reckless service, helping to prevent dangerous and avoidable situations like this.
Holding all responsible parties accountable is essential. The driver may face criminal charges, but if an alcohol provider contributed to his impairment, they should also be held accountable. Without consequences, businesses have little incentive to follow the law and prevent overservice. A thorough investigation into where the driver was drinking and whether the law was followed is necessary to ensure that everyone who contributed to this crash is identified and held responsible.
