Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

While people tend to think things are open-and-shut once an alleged intoxicated driver is facing charges, there’s often more to the story. For example, if the intoxicated driver was drunk, were did that alcohol come from? I’ve handled hundreds of drunk driving accidents where the driver was unlawfully over-served by an alcohol provider. Those providers can potentially face criminal investigations, fines, suspended licenses, or liability for the injuries resulting from the intoxication. But if authorities are too quick to move on just because a driver has already been charged, they could overlook this. That’s why I have to wonder what measures have been taken to get this accident the attention it deserves.
