If further testing shows that alcohol did lead to this crash, people might think that would make the situation open-and-shut. In reality, though, finding out if a driver was drunk is often just the first part of the story. It’s also important to find out where a drunk driver got their alcohol and whether or not they were over-served.

In Texas, alcohol providers such as bars and liquor stores can be responsible if they unlawfully over-serve someone who is obviously intoxicated, and it leads to people getting hurt or killed. This is both important for victims and families, who rightfully want to see accountability for the wrongs done to them and also for getting otherwise reckless establishments to clean up their act before more people get hurt.
