Harris County, TX — September 5, 2024, Kyerick Jackson was killed as the result of a car accident at around 9:10 p.m. along the Eastex Freeway.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened along the 17000 block of I-69/U.S. 59 in the area of Rankin Road.
Investigators said they identified Kyerick Jackson as a pedestrian who was in the area of southbound Eastex Freeway. It appears a vehicle struck Jackson, resulting in fatal injuries. The driver remained at the scene and reportedly isn’t facing any charges or citations.

With a situation like this, it can be easy for people to jump to conclusions. But pedestrian accidents aren’t always as simple as people may think. It’s not just about who had the right-of-way. There’s also the issue of finding out how visible and how avoidable the victim was. For example, if a driver should be able to see and avoid someone, they don’t get a free pass to hit them just because that person isn’t in a crosswalk. Otherwise, if there wasn’t a way to reasonably avoid the victim, that’s not something anyone should expect a driver to be responsible for. So what happened here, and are authorities being thorough enough to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks?
