Carson County, TX — November 27, 2025, Kristin Floyd was killed and five others were injured after a truck accident around 2:24 p.m. along Highway 207.

Investigators said that the crash took place between Borger and Panhandle.

It appears that 42-year-old Kristin Floyd was a passenger in a Ford Excursion along with five others. They were going northbound on the highway at the time. From the oncoming lanes, authorities say that a Ford F-450 truck got on the wrong side of the road, and the vehicles collided as a result.

Due to the collision, Kristin Floyd was killed. The other five people in the Excursion had reportedly moderate injuries. Authorities did not report any pending charges.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

A large truck going onto the wrong side of the road is obviously a serious mistake. But why did that happen? Was the driver on their phone? Were they working long hours or rushing to meet an unreasonable deadline? Did they have a history of reckless behavior? Was alcohol a factor? Was this some one-in-a-million crash caused by a vehicle defect?

Likely or not, it’s important for investigators to cover all of these possibilities. That means digging into evidence beyond just what’s obvious on the surface. Cellphone records, video footage, vehicle data, driver records, laser mapping, road marking and debris analysis, vehicle inspection for possible defects, etc. If authorities aren’t taking steps to consider all of this vital information, they might miss something crucial.

That’s why it’s important to know how thorough investigations are into a crash like this. Victims and families deserve to know the full story, and they deserve to know there will be accountability for what happened. If authorities can show they’re looking into this from all angles, that would be a good sign. But if a crash this serious needed more thorough independent accident reconstructionists picking up the slack, it wouldn’t at all unusual.
