Lubbock, TX — April 28, 2024, Kiyanna Hightower was injured following a car accident at around 4:15 a.m. along County Road 2500.
Authorities said they were called to the area of County Road 2500 and Private Road 7150 on the southeast side of the city.

According to officials, 26-year-old Kiyanna Hightower was in a Chevy Equinox going southbound on C.R. 2500. The vehicle apparently went off the left side of the roadway and careened through a chain link fence before coming to a stop. Details suggest Hightower had serious injuries following the accident.

Without further confirmed information, I have to wonder what more there could be to the story. A car crashing through a chain link fence quite frankly is not the sort of thing I’d expect to see result in serious injuries. Did the vehicle overturn? Did it hit anything else? Were there extenuating circumstances authorities overlooked, like a faulty airbag or seatbelt? It’s possible this all is just poor communication, or maybe the initial investigations are just mistaken. But if this crash was unusually severe, it could point to serious issues the authorities may not be able to handle on their own.
