Little Rock, AR — July 31, 2024, Kera Alba was killed as the result of an 18-wheeler accident at around 1:27 a.m. along Stagecoach Road.
According to initial statements from the Arkansas State Police, the accident happened at 11900 Stagecoach Road, east of the North Alexander Road intersection.

State Police officials say that 33-year-old Kera Alba was in a Toyota going westbound on Stagecoach Road. Up ahead, it appears a Volvo tractor-trailer “pulled out” in front of Alba’s vehicle. As a result, the vehicles collided. Due to the collision, Alba was killed. There were no other reported injuries. It’s unclear at this time if authorities are considering charges or not.

While I certainly can’t draw conclusions here without seeing clear evidence for myself, the language authorities used here is more than a little concerning. Unless something highly unusual beyond the truck driver’s control happened, saying the truck “pulled out” in front of someone is usually the result of a mistake. That said, when I look at images of this stretch of road, several questions come to mind which I wonder if authorities are clearing up at all behind the scenes.
For one, why did the truck driver here believe it was safe for them to pull out onto the roadway? Were they in a rush to meet a deadline? Were they distracted by something? Did impaired driving play a role here? Are there issues with the physical layout of the roadway or the property where the truck driver was exiting? Is the driver inexperienced, or do they have a history of reckless driving?
Another factor is there appears to be a couple of businesses here that would likely see a lot of commercial vehicle traffic. Have the locals experienced any issues at this spot in the past? Are there frequently trucks coming and going, and are they being safe when doing so? Have there been concerns expressed to local officials who have yet to take any steps to address the issues?
I know that some people reading these reports were likely asking the more obvious questions: Was this driver on the phone? Were they fatigued? Did they roll through the intersection without looking both ways? Those are obviously important questions, but I’ve learned across hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases that there are often less obvious, extenuating circumstances surrounding fatal truck wrecks that authorities tend to overlook. If they don’t consider possible mistakes beyond just the truck driver’s actions, they risk letting someone else off the hook whose actions contributed to someone losing their life. In my experience, a family in need of answers about what happened to their loved one isn’t going to accept anything less than the whole story. Are steps being taken here to see that happens?
