Eastland, TX — August 9, 2024, Kelly Michael Sims was killed in a single-car accident at approximately 7:00 p.m. along Interstate Highway 20.
According to authorities, 62-year-old Kelly Sims, of Fort Worth, was traveling in a westbound vehicle on I.H. 20 when the accident took place.

The cause of the accident remains unclear. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the vehicle failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered to the left before being overcorrected, which led to the vehicle going into a skid before leaving the right side of the road. Once off of the roadway, it apparently overturned, rolling an unknown number of times before coming to a stop.
Sims incurred critical injuries as a result of the wreck, according to reports; he was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. One thing I wonder is just what kind of investigations authorities are conducting. Frankly, when it comes to single-vehicle accidents, they’re not often seen as a high priority. This can lead to authorities moving on too quickly, jumping to conclusions, or overlooking important but complex or uncommon possible factors. It’s one of the reasons many of the calls I get from families unsatisfied with official investigations are concerning single-vehicle wrecks. Sometimes, it just takes more thorough independent investigations to finally get some answers, and it wouldn’t be unusual if the same proved true here, as well.
