Mesquite, TX — April 3, 2023, Leith Lowe was injured in a 4-vehicle accident, including two commercial trucks, around 2:10 p.m. on I-635 south in Mesquite.

Authorities report the victim’s Lexus RX 330 was stopped in traffic facing southbound when a chain reaction accident occurred. A cement truck purportedly failed to control its speed and hit the back of a dump truck that was stopped behind Mr. Lowe’s Lexus. This impact reportedly forced the dump truck forward into the Lexus, and the Lexus did not strike any other vehicle.

A Honda CR-V that was also southbound behind the cement truck allegedly attempted to dodge the cement truck, but the barrel of the cement truck purportedly fell onto the Honda’s passenger side.

Reports indicate Mr. Lowe was transported to a medical center with serious injuries, the dump truck driver was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, and the cement truck driver suffered minor injuries but was not transported. The Honda driver was purportedly uninjured.

Investigators have not released what factors led up to the accident.
