Hidalgo County, TX — August 5, 2024, Katty Bernal was injured following a car accident at approximately 7:45 a.m. along Mile 5 Road.
According to authorities, 46-year-old Katty Bernal was traveling in a westbound Ford Ecosport on Mile 5 Road at the Minnesota Road intersection when the accident took place.
The intersection is reportedly controlled by a traffic signal. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a southbound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck occupied by a 49-year-old man on Minnesota Road neglected to stop for the red light, entering the intersection at an apparently unsafe time. This resulted in a T-bone collision between the front-end of the pickup truck and the right side of the Ford. The impact caused the Ford to overturn, rolling an unknown number of times before coming to a stop resting on its right side.
Bernal suffered serious injuries, according to reports, while the man from the pickup truck sustained moderate injuries, as well. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
