How Did This Accident Occur?

Generally when a driver runs a stop sign late at night, it’s due to inattention, intoxication, or fatigue. There are other possibilities to consider, of course, but those are the most common. Even in those situations, though, things aren’t always so open-and-shut.

For example, let’s say alcohol led to this crash. People might think that would be as straight-forward as an accident can get. In reality, that could lead to investigations into where that alcohol came from and whether or not a negligent bar unlawfully over-served the driver. That’s rarely something that can be done just at the crash scene, so it would take far more thorough independent investigations beyond the accident scene to get the whole story and see all parties were held accountable.

That’s why even something like a driver running a stop sign isn’t necessarily simple. More information could always come to light that calls for more involved accident investigations. Hopefully authorities are taking the time to consider all of those possible angles. If not, it’s up to victims and families themselves to determine if or when independent professionals need to step in.
