Houston, TX — December 9, 2023, Karim Marani was injured following a hit-and-run accident at around 3:41 a.m. along the Southwest Freeway.
Initial details released concerning the accident say that it happened along the southbound lanes of U.S. 59 in the area of Chimney Rock Road.
According to officials, 77-year-old Karim Marani was in a Lexus traveling along southbound lanes of the highway. While doing so, it appears a white Ford Explorer Sport Trac pickup failed to maintain its lane, and it crashed with a Nissan Altima before then hitting Marani’s vehicle. This forced Marani’s Lexus into the barrier. The Ford pickup kept driving and left the scene, police say.
Due to the collision, Marani had apparently moderate injuries. There were no other reported injuries. Harris County officials seem to have filed a charge for failure to stop and render aid against the person they allege left the scene of the accident. No further information about the crash is available right now.
