Bellmead, TX — August 15, 2024, Justin Johnson and Renee Stump were injured following an alleged drunk driver accident at 10:00 p.m. along Bellmead Drive.
According to preliminary information about the accident says that the accident happened in the area of Bellmead/U.S. 84 and Loop 340.

Investigators said that 39-year-old Justin Colby Johnson was in a Toyota Tacoma going southwest along the highway. 46-year-old Renee Stump was in a Honda Civic, also going southbound. It appears that an approaching Ford F-150 did not slow down in time, hitting both Johnson and Stump from behind. As a result, Johnson was seriously injured while Stump’s injuries were described as moderate.
Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
Authorities alleged the Ford driver had been drinking, and recommended charges for intoxication assault. If evidence proves their theory true, that may lead folks to think this is all open-and-shut. But there’s often a lot more to the story whenever alcohol is involved. This is due to the fact alcohol-related accidents often involve accomplices authorities may overlook: the alcohol provider.
I’ve handled hundreds of cases against negligent alcohol providers, and it’s not often I see them face consequences when left solely up to the authorities to investigate. In Texas, they can face criminal investigations, fines, license suspensions, and liability for over-serving someone and contributing to an accident. But since authorities tend to only prioritize the drivers, the alcohol providers can slip through the cracks unless those other potential avenues are also being explored.
So while I can’t say what all happened here, experience tells me there could be more than what authorities have said publicly so far. Have authorities been working behind the scenes to address everything, or are they again missing something important?
